Precious Synopsis
Claireece “Precious” Jones is an overweight, illiterate high-school girl in Harlem. The African-American teen is pregnant with her father’s child for the second time. She endures hardships in her teenage life that everyone couldn’t imagine – abused by her mother (Mo’Nique), raped by her father, grows up poor, angry, unloved and generally unnoticed.
She is imprisoned both emotially and physically, but her instincts tell her that if she’s ever going to break from the chains of ignorance, she will have to dig deeply into her own resources. After all, it’s not a a film wallowing in depression, but it vibrates with the kind of energy derived only from anger and hope. Just as she’s about to give birth to her second child, Jones is accepted into an alternative school where a teacher helps her find a new path in her life.
