Mold-Resistant Breadbox
August 22nd, 2006
Jared Bouck over the InventGeek has turned an existing stainless breadbox into a Mold-Resistant Breadbox that ompletely prevents mold growth on bread for weeks at a time compared to breads left in a standard breadbox. This is a project to given by a fan of InventGeek to challenge Jared by using the most common place and mundane item and turn it in a practical way.

To keep the mold growth to a minimum stage, Jared mounted the standard stainless steel breadbox an ultra-violet salvaged from a water purifier system inside the lid. Considering that too much heat from the bulb will assist in mold growth, he also added a light controller that automaticallly turns the bulb on and off at random intervals. This is also to maintain the nutritional value of the bread - too much UV light will decrease the value.
The overall cost of project is $65.00 and you’ll get an ultra geeky Mold-Resistant Breadbox.
