Clark Sorensen’s Flower Shaped Urinals

February 21st, 2006

Clark Sorensen, an artist from San Francisco, has created some of the most amazing and beautiful urinals one is likely to ever see – Flower Shaped Urinals! Why flowers, Clark?

“Many have asked where the idea for these pieces came from. Well, quite obviously from the bathroom! I had the idea while standing over a urinal many times a day and letting the shape inspire me. I saw a shoe, a mouth, a shovel, a cup, etc. The flower became the shape I finally chose partly because I love flowers and partly because it is the perfect contradiction – taking a mundane, even ugly object and transforming it into something different, even something beautiful. …

Clark Sorensen's Red Hibiscus Urinal

The hand-made urinals are made of high fire porcelain, the same material of commercial toilets and not mass produced. Of course, they are not only for decoration, but can be installed and used.

Above picture is the Red Hibiscus urinal, with 19″ tall. It has been sold out, but another will be created for $7,500.
The urinals are made of high fire porcelain, the same material that is used for commercial toilets, and can be installed and used as fully functional fixtures. Each piece is hand-built and is a unique work of art.

Currently, the Flower Shaped Urinals are being displayed at Kyung Hyang Housing Fair in Seoul, Korea (February 17-22, 2006).
