December 23rd, 2005

bin bin wastebasketEssey, a new Danish design company developed a wastebasket, named Bin Bin wastebasket that looks exactly like its content, crushed paper. It is designed by John Brauer for Essey and has won the Good design Award 2005 in Japan for the category of Product Design/Everyday goods and gardening products. From Dexigner:

The design process itself consisted of creating small miniature models from paper that was first crushed and then unfolded again.

After working with over 500 mini models the final model was eventually selected and a digital 3D image made. The image was then scaled and modified for manufacturing.

Bin Bin wastebasket is made of hard polyethylene and comes in two colors – white and black, with dimensions of 13.2″dia x 13.2″h. Pay $48.00 and its yours.

(Hei, it looks like the crinckled coffee mug, doesn’t it?)
